My Favorite 3 Indie Coffee Shops
Anyone who knows me recognizes that coffee is an integral part of my life. My day does not begin without a steaming cup of coffee, and a delicious-looking baked treat always tempts me. From specialty drinks to cold brews, the debate on the best beverage is endless, and everyone has their preference; however, I think I have found some real gems in the area that have something for everyone. Here are my top three:
•Emissary: Based in Dupont, this coffee shop has laid-back vibes and a cozy ambiance with its exposed brick walls. I particularly enjoy the chai; the spicy notes are the perfect cure for a cold or rainy day. I always walk out with one of their pastries – the chocolate croissant is a favorite.
•Rare Bird Coffee Roasters: This City of Falls Church coffeehouse offers delightful espresso drinks, sandwiches, and baked treats. Chocolate croissants are one of their baker’s specialties, but there is also a rotating cast of sweet and savory scones that are really yummy, and the biscuits are a must! Stop in on the weekend for a cinnamon roll, but you have to get there early because they sell out quickly. Their cardamom vanilla latte is a favorite, but you can never go wrong with fresh drip coffee. You can also buy coffee beans in-house or via several subscription plans.
•St Elmo’s Coffee Pub: This corner coffee shop is a staple feature in Del Ray and is one of two of their North Virginia locations! Its location makes it a great place to drop in and grab a quick bite to eat or a pick-me-up beverage as your stroll down on Mt Vernon Ave. Their muffins (any of their scrumptious flavors) pair perfectly with a piping-hot cup of coffee!
Whenever I am out and about, I love to make time to drop by a new place and try something new. That being said, do you have a favorite coffee shop or bakery I should try? Comment or send me a message. I’d love to hear from you!
For the love of real estate and coffee….
